The new year of one-time vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin started on a rather controversial note. She posted a photo of her 6 year old son Trig standing on the family dog Jill. The Facebook post was intended to wish everyone a happy new year, but instead got intense criticism from many people who identified the act as animal abuse. I am the mother of a special needs child and would be psyched if she figured out to Stand on him to get to what she needs. Should I get in the same uproar when the dog steps on my kids, because more often than not, the dog is stepping on/ sleeping on one or more of my kids.

“Piss poor dog training”. For all you know this “dog” that is a member of our family could be trained as a therapy dog, is he not allowed to play with my kids? Are you saying my dog is not trained because my kids sometimes curl up with him on the floor or the fact that every once in a while he steps on/trips over my kids? Let me be clear, I don’t allow my kids to step on my dog, just like I don’t allow my dog to step on my kids…. But sometimes it happens.

I read her (Palin’s) response to all the controversy and I don’t know why I was appalled considering the rest of the nonsense that has falle out of her mouth.
