Teresa Patterson from North Grimston, Yorkshire, UK, was surprised to see Zara, her 4-year old Rottweiler dog pregnant. But, the real shock came when the babies arrived! She realized the father of the baby was none other than her other pet dog, The West Highland Terrier named Joey!
It is unbelievable how Joey, being only one-third the size of the Rottweiler Zara and being from a completely different dog breed, got her pregnant. (Photos of the pups are on the next page.)
Mrs. Patterson says,
“I was completely shocked, I didn’t think nature would let this happen but at some point it did. The puppies have a lovely temperament like their parents. They are high maintenance as they want attention all the time. One of the puppies, Sparkie, which our son is having, follows me everywhere I go. But this won’t happen again – Joey will be going to the vets soon.”

I don’t get how this is irresponsible. It’s natural & certainly not uncommon. Happens all the time. My dog is a pitbull/American bull dog & rat terrier/Chihuahua mix. The lady we got him from, the female dog is pit/bulldog mix & the dad was a chihuahua mix. My mom used to raise Chihuahuas & if they are determined enough, they will jump up onto the female, wrap their front legs around her back legs & not fall off. As long as the female “stands” for the male, it means she’s ready to mate.
Family member of mine had a Brittany spaniel golden retriever mix, she was bred by a beagle and a border collie during the same heat. She had 4 puppies that looked identical to beagles and 4 that had all the characteristics of the collie. Was truly interesting wasn’t aware it was possible vet confirmed it can happen though.
These puppies are not cute
